My understanding is that app on phone is suspected of doing that. Drone has no power when switched off so I cant see the way to do it. Bms on battery does not let power out when battery is off...

I do believe you've just solved the range problem with electric cars. Use this technology to keep the car powered on even when the battery is off or dead. You can drive .... infinite distances and never have to plug it in.

If an intelligent flight battery is turned off it does not output any power. So, a drone taking fotos and sending data while of can only be a hoax. And how should it send data without connection to a network while the rc controller is turned off, too? The only possibility for DJI would be abusing the Fly app on your phone or tablet for spy activity. Even the RC or RC2 controllers would be no option, asd they are lacking a camera and permanent network connection. So in conclusion this is a politically intended hoax for sueing DJI for being a successful Chinese company!

The ban: First I'd like to see an independent third party investigate ALL Congress-Critter and elected Politicians and known lobbyists for owning stock in non DJI drone companies. Find those congress-critters and you'll find why there's a ban. Doubt that it's about a perceived notion that a powered off drone without a battery pack attached is mysteriously connecting to wifi networks that were never given access to the networks...Indeed that the ban itself is nothing more than the smokescreen for some politician that has existing stocks in some other drone company that will be raking in a fortune due to the ban.. Yep, all about corrupted politicians lining their pockets, probably with contracts with lots of US Taxpayer money attached.

This whole thing is just really ridiculous! These stupid politicians need to realize that one item that we all use now on a daily basis - that connects to the internet - and is 'always on' is our cell phones! The 2 largest manufactures - Samsung and Apple both have factories in China! So - if you are going to 'ban DJI' due to sending info back to main land China - then - let's ban cell phones too! again - RIDICULOUS!

Well, this ban better include other electronic devices, at about 35 percent of all of our devices are made in China. So Miss Stefanik better get high stepping on those too. A lot people have IPhones and Apple computers. Going to have to get rid of those.

The report says that it is likely with a high degree of confidence that it uploads data to a server. This seems like they are just spitballing it and don't have hard proof that this is occurring with those drones. How it it connecting to these servers? Are the devices hacking people's wifi to send the data? Do they have proof that it is? Also when it stated that the PRC almost constantly has access to the servers that host the data in Hong Kong and Taiwan doesn't mean that they are doing it. I also would think that the nation of Taiwan would have a major issue with the PRC doing this within their borders and would have some proof if this is taking place. This report seems like someone was told to put it together in order to justify a preconceived conclusion.

I did my military service in an SF unit and was a PI for over 25 years, I never backed down down from "collecting" information and was pretty damned good at "acquiring, collecting or uncovering" lnfo that took a "special effort" to get., but I never even remotely considered what these drones collect as having any "special or strategic" value. If there were videos of aircraft, ships or "agents" engaged in "spec-ops" that wold be different.. but I have yet to see anything i would remotely consider 'significant" in this respect

If you pull out the battery from the drone, no data will be sent to the PRC... But for the DJI Fly app, that might be an issue.

I just watched on a news program that china now owns 350 million acres of farmland in the US, and a lot of it is near military bases. It also said that 25% of pork pork production is from China, and 25% of beef production is from Brazil. I don't know how this happened, because when I Was a kid I always heard that no foreign country would ever own land in the US., Now I'm 74 and it seems like our government is giving it away. I live in Illinois, this spring I started a year long projector showing the progress of growing the crops that surround me, and the area that I live in.

This is literally the red scare for drones. As for the classified info, it's literally NOTHING to do with our drones. Everything to do with a particular Blue Listed drone company and its lobbying. No device can send video/images/meta data without power. Corruption wins again.

If DJI wants to spy with these drones, why are they so restrictive on where and how high we can fly. Get anywhere close to a no-fly zone or altitude cap and it acts like it hits an invisible net.

Everyone here is watching this on a device with multiple cameras pointing in both directions, microphones, heart rate/fingerprint sensors and GPS logging 24/7. Most if not all of which is knowingly being synced to the cloud and made available to the US government if requested. Seems a little hypocritical for the same government to be accusing DJI of similar practices but hasn't provided a single bit of evidence.

The way its worded i think they are talking about it still recording facial recognition data and uploading it back to servers, even if you have facial recognition feature off. Not the whole drone. This would be obvious if it was sending all of these files while the drone was off, even Bluetooth file transfer the fans on the drone kick on after a bit.

Meanwhile the huge elephant in the room are our cell phone, which are also manufactured in Chyna, along with pretty much every techno gadget known to man! Oh! But my drone is a security risk? Fk the US Govt! FJB and the RINO that was lobbied by Skydio!

What I find suspicious is that the FAA original idea was to have drones always connected to the internet. Now that happens and they didn't account for something like this. Smh sounds like a bunch of BS
